Durgapur Branch, the tiniest branch in terms of number of members, was inaugurated in July, 1990. In 1993 land was allotted by Durgapur Steel Plant. Own building was inaugurated on 27th August, 1995. Mr. D. K. Dey Sarkar, Mr. B. B. Sahu and Mr. S. K. Choudhury, along-with other members, student and industries of this region played a major role in opening this branch and constructing its own building. The auditorium in the branch premises was constructed with the donation from "Loyalka Foundation" in the memory of Late J. K. Loyalka. Air-conditioning facility has now been provided to this hall. The branch has been trying its best to cater with the needs of members and students since its inception by organizing seminar, sub-regional conference, workshop, lecture meeting and classes for foundation course. Eminent personalities and faculties like Mr. V. S. Datey, Mr. B. Dasgupta, Mr. Rahul Roy and others including Late Sukumar Bhattacharyya were present at the said seminar and conferences. This branch has published newsletters in stray manner in the past and is confident to publish the same regularly from April, 2006. Durgapur Branch was adjudged the second best branch of EIRC for the year 2005. |
